Employing a new system dubbed Full Force Technology, the Bosch RN175 Roofing Coil Nailer translates the full force of the compressed air delivered into the machine every time the trigger is depressed into energy that drives nails, thus eliminating wasted power.
Full Force Technology does away with return chambers. Compressed air inside such chambers could act as a drag to the piston as it is propelled forward when the nailer is fired. Apart from this, the added chambers also add bulk and weight to the machine.
When the Bosch RN175 is fired, air in front of the piston is released through an outlet at its top, thus it meets no resistance. For returning the piston to its original position, a second burst of compressed air is introduced into the cylinder when the trigger is released.
The result is that there is an increase in the driving force delivered by up to 10% compared to nailers with return chambers. And with their elimination, the RN175 is 20% smaller than its competitors. This means that it is also lighter and thus more comfortable to work with. It also means that accessing tight and awkward areas is easier. This combination of increased power and reduced size easily makes the machine the best in terms of power-to-size ratio.
The nailer is designed to drive nails with lengths of 1.75 inches and diameter of 0.120 inch. With a tool-free depth of drive adjustment, you can quickly choose to flush or allow the head of the nails to protrude. The shingle guide is also adjustable without tools.
To protect your work and the internal parts of the RN175 from damage due to blank firing, the nailer is equipped with a dry-fire lock-out mechanism. And to protect the casing from the usually harsh surroundings of a construction site as well as from abrasive shingles, the nailer is fitted with a body armor that includes carbide inserts atop and in front of the nosepiece.
The Bosch RN175 Roofing Coil Nailer has dimensions of 3.25 inches in width and 10 inches in both height and depth. Weight is 5.5 pounds.
