The nailer is actually a two-in-one tool as it includes two nosepieces that are easily interchangeable. One is for plastic-collated framing nails from 2.0 to 3.5 inches, while the other is for metal connector nails from 1.5 to 2.5 inches. It has a high-capacity magazine that can hold up to 60 plastic-collated framing nails or 60 metal connector nails. The magazine is angled towards the grip thus keeping the work area clear. It includes a 16-inch layout indicator allowing you to measure the distance between studs.
With a driving power of 1,050 inch-pounds, the F21PL can easily drive your nails even into tough engineered wood. The setting of nail depth is easy with its patented push-button adjustment feature.
Constructed from magnesium, the nailer is a lightweight power tool. Weighing only 8.1 pounds you can use it all day without unduly stressing your arm. Yet it is also strong and tough allowing its repeated use over time. In fact, the F21PL is considered to have the best power to weight ratio among the other nailers.
The casing has steel wear guards with integrated rubber skid pads on both sides. The rubber pads are used to keep the nailer from sliding when laid on its side, which is often its position on the floor when not in use. When working on the ceiling you can use its adjustable rafter hook for hanging on joists and rafters on work breaks. The grip is also wrapped in rubber for a non-slip hold.
The firing mechanism of the nailer is a sequential and bump fire trigger. This means that the nailer will not discharge a nail unless its nose is depressed or bumped against the wood before the trigger is squeezed.
