In a world that is increasingly concerned with the environment and thus the felling of wood for construction projects, engineered wood are being used in place of standard wood. Since the former can be tougher than the latter, they often require powerful nailers when fastening them. One of the tools that are strong enough for tough engineered woods is the Dewalt D51844 Round Head Framing Nailer.
The D51844 has a driving power of 900 in-lbs. This means that it can easily drive 2- to 3½-inch round head framing nails with diameters ranging from 0.113 to 0.148 inch into the toughest engineered wood as well as standard wood. Although it is a very powerful tool, it is designed in a manner that minimizes recoil when firing, thus also minimizing hand fatigue even when working all day.
The casing of the framing nailer is made of magnesium, an extremely light metal that is also strong and durable. The nail magazine, on the other hand, is made of aluminum which is also a lightweight metal. It can accommodate a total of 65 nails thus minimizing, as far as practicable, the amount of time you spend on reloading it. Because it is lightweight, the nailer is comfortable and convenient to operate.
Nails are fired by a sequential action trigger. Although this may be slower than a bump action method, it is far safer and nail placement is more precise. A tool-free depth-of-drive setting is also included with the nailer. This assures you that nails driven are of the same depth. When the tool is not in use, the trigger can be disabled by an incorporated trigger lock-off for safety.
In order to prevent damage to the machine and ensure a longer service life, it has a dry fire lockout feature that prevents firing when the magazine is out of nails.
The Dewalt D51844 Round Head Framing Nailer has dimensions of 5.38" W x 12.75" H x 20.74" D, and weight of 7.6 lbs.
