Powered by DeWalt's extended run 18-Volt XRP NiCad battery, the DeWalt DC616K XRP 18-Volt Cordless Finish Nailer is a convenient tool to use. This is because there is neither air hose nor power cord that impedes your movement and limits your reach.
The DC616K is classified as a finish nailer because it fires standard 16 gauge nails with lengths starting at 1¼ to 2½ inches. Its magazine can hold up to 110 nails, and it is not very choosy, accepting virtually all 16 gauge nails as long as they are of the appropriate length. It is a straight magazine that is loaded from the rear.
The tool is ideal for trim carpenters as well as cabinet and furniture makers. Baseboards, moldings, panels, hardwood flooring, window and door jambs and casings, and staircases can be easily fastened with it.
To give you the option to work with precision or with speed, the machine features both sequential operating mode and bump operating mode. Equipped with an engine that recycles very quickly, you can, when in bump mode, fire as many as four or five nails in one second without any loss of nail depth consistency, whether working with soft or hardwoods.
Nail depth is adjustable, and with a six-position dial, you do not need to fine tune it every time you move from one nailing application to another and back again.
Although the DeWalt nailer rarely jams, in the event that it happens, the nosepiece can be easily opened and accessed to remove a stuck nail. You do not even need tools for this. At the front of the nosepiece, a no-mar tip can be installed to protect your sensitive work from scratches and nicks.
For your safety, the nailer is equipped with a contact trip lock-off that disables the trigger while it is not in use.
