Powered by an 18 Volt XRP battery, the DC628K XRP gets rid of air hoses and electric power cords. This totally frees your movements as you maneuver to the best and most convenient nailing position possible. Apart from this, no connections also means that the nailer can be used in new construction sites where electric power may not be available without requiring you to take along a gas-powered air compressor.
Working with an efficient engine design, the XRP battery can provide sufficient power to drive nails through soft, hard, and engineered woods. It fires 15 gauge nails with lengths starting at 1¼ to 2½ inches. These are contained in a magazine angled at 34° and with a capacity of 110 nails. The magazine is rear loading and is easy to reload.
The nailer features both a sequential firing mode for the exact placement of your nails, and a bump-firing mode of a quick fastening. The nosepiece is easily removable without the need for tools, making it easy to remove nail jams. A contact trip lock-off allows you to disable the trigger while the tool is not in use to prevent accidental firing. Depth of drive is adjusted using a six-position dial.
The casing of the nailer is in DeWalt's signature bright yellow for increased visibility. Its top cap is colored light gray, and is easily removed if there is a need to troubleshoot the tool. A reversible belt hook is incorporated at the heel of the grip handle for hanging the tool on your work belt. The handle is wrapped with a non-slip grip for a secure hold.
