Sporting the standard colors of all tools from Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation, the Milwaukee 7140-21 Angled Finish Nailer is encased in a red body with its rear end in silver. It has black grips and nail magazine.
Weighing only 4.2 pounds, the 7140-21 is a very light tool that reduces fatigue even when nailing moldings overhead. Contributing to this is its lightweight magnesium body. It is also compact which makes it easy to carry and maneuver in tight corners or recesses.
The nailer is activated by compressed air. It operates from 70 to 120 PSI. Beyond this, the nailer can be damaged making it necessary to always verify if the compressor's regulator gauge is set within the required range. With this power, the nailer can easily drive gauge 15 nails with lengths of 1- to 2 ½ inches even into hardwoods.
Firing can be done in two modes –sequential and bump firing. If you want to be more careful or more precise with your nail placement, use the sequential mode. On the other hand, if exact placement is not critical and you are in a hurry to finish your work, you can switch to bump firing. Changing over from one mode to the other is accomplished by turning the actuation selector on the left side of the nailer just above the trigger.
The angled magazine can carry 106 nails, which means you do not need to reload it often. Should you, however, run low a reload indicator will warn you thus preventing dry firings. The grip is overlaid with rubber for a soft, non-slip, and comfortable hold. Above the grip is the air deflector that directs exhaust air away from you. On the other end of the grip is a hook allowing you to clip the nailer to your belt while not in use. Also at this end is the air inlet measuring 3/8 inch NPT.
At the nozzle of the nailer is a removable tip that prevents scratching your work. Behind the nozzle is the depth of drive adjustment knob, and a little further back is the jam clearing door that can be opened without tools.
