Although a 45° angle nose is the convention among most power nailers and the Porta-Nails 462A Angle Finish Nailer actually has one, it adds an extra nose with a 35° angle. This is intended for driving nails into hard to reach spaces such as those close to a wall or in tight areas. It is especially suited for use in installing tongue and groove applications whether on ceilings or on floors.
The 45°, on the other hand, is reserved for the more conventional nailing applications. It can also be utilized as a face nailer for the first and final floor slats. It is equipped with a non-mar tip that protects the piece of wood you are nailing. This is especially useful when working with furniture and with delicate woods.
The nail magazine of the nailer is angled towards the back which makes it easier to access depressed or dipped locations. It fires 35° DA style gauge 15 nails with lengths starting at 1.25, 1.5, and 2.0 inches. It has a capacity of 100 nails which eliminates the necessity of constant reloading. These nails are sufficiently strong and durable to hold 3/8- to ¾-inch flooring.
The casing is made of magnesium which makes the nailer very light, weighing only 4.5 pounds. For this reason you can work on the ceiling or walls for extended periods without exhausting your arms.
The Porta-Nails 462A Portamatic Angled Finish Nailer is a pneumatic tool that has an operating pressure of 70 – 120 PSI. Its exhaust deflector is adjustable without the need for tools. This tool-free feature also extends to the adjustment of the depth-of-drive of the nail. For flexibility in the execution of your projects, the nailer features a selectable trigger that allows you to either press its nose before pulling the trigger to fire a nail, or to simply press it against the wood to activate it. Although the former method is safer, the latter is quicker. You need, however, to exercise caution if you prefer the latter.
